Good work takes a team, and it takes time. I write stories because they have meaning and intention—they impact people and their lives. And I’ve been lucky enough to find a team that understands this, working with books with the same kind of passion and intensity that I do.
I currently have a large backlog of books (and no, it’s not from R.R. Martin-speed of writing). I could go the route of hiring or paying for services that use AI or fancy algorithms that will speed up the process, but I don’t. Why? Stories are about humans, even if they’re also demigods, so humans need to do the work to make it meaningful.
My team of people have clients, professional lives, personal lives, families, friends, and so many other things going on that should be going on, and that is important to me. I care about them, they care about me, and we care about working passionately but also healthily. It was never my intention to have, or be, a book writing mill.
Algorithms feel grating; alignment feels smooth. And thanks to my team, my stories flow, and flow to you.
Editing and Audiobook production
Inkling Books
Heather and Daniel Ryder
“I met Heather at DragonCon one year, and I gave her a copy of a first edition of a novella, to see my writing style and if she wanted to edit for me. She asked if I meant it when I said she could ink it. I said, of course. It’s now a treasured copy. I joke that there’s a pre and post Heather era.”

Why working with Mab is awesome
I could not ask for a better author than Mab! She is a story teller, a world builder, a legend crafter, and so much more. Getting to edit her stories lets me sink into the rich details of her tales and appreciate the evocative characters and cultures of her books. It is a gift to work with her: not only does she know her craft, but she knows the benefit of bringing in a skilled team to support her. I absolutely love being her editor!
Our ideal client
My partner and I are nerds who want to help other nerds tell good stories. We love indie authors because they are go-getters who care about their work and want to share it with the world. If you’re an author (or soon to be) who is looking to get expertise in all the nuanced steps of self-publishing a book, we’re here for you! We want to help you with editing, formatting, audiobook production, and just good ole moral support. As a wise man once said, “It’s dangerous to go alone!”
Copyediting and proofreading
White Rabbit Editing
Stephanie White
“Stephanie has become my proofreader. She’s an incredibly thoughtful editor, with old school skills with modern technology. We’ve geeked out over editing and the Chicago Manuel of Style.”

Working with Mab
Working with Mab Morris is always a highlight for me. Her fantasy stories are inventive, immersive, and genuinely fun to dive into—there’s always something unexpected and imaginative on every page. Beyond her writing, Mab brings an infectious energy to every collaboration. She’s thoughtful, communicative, and truly values the people she works with, creating an environment where editors feel respected and supported. It’s the kind of partnership that makes the work not just rewarding, but genuinely enjoyable.
My Ideal Client
My ideal client writes within the fantasy space and approaches their work with curiosity, openness, and respect for the creative process. They’re collaborative, polite, and receptive to feedback, understanding that editing is a partnership aimed at strengthening their story. They value the role of a copy editor or proofreader and recognize the impact that thoughtful, detail-oriented editing can have on clarity, flow, and reader experience.
technical support and graphic design
CJ Ryan
“CJ has been formatting my books since day one, writing back cover copy, designing covers, and helping me with marketing (I’m not great at this even with his nudging and advice). On my worst days he’s often the one that bucks me up and reminds me to just breathe. he believes in me.”

Why I work with Mab
Mab’s work is unique, and the Alex Goodward series holds a special place in my heart. I appreciate that she always listens when I start to get into the nuts and bolts of what we need to do in order to have a good website, working email, etc. She doesn’t need to understand everything (that’s my job) but she trusts me with her online presence and I take that responsibility very seriously. More than anything, I want more people to see her work and appreciate it as I do.
My Ideal Client
I prefer working with genre writers, but I’m happy to chat to any author who needs help with tech issues. I’ve been around the internet so long that there’s almost nothing I haven’t seen before and no problem I can’t fix. What I really want in a client is someone who understands that technology is complicated and I may not be able to make it do exactly what they want, but is still going to trust me to come up with a solution to the problem at hand.
Cover Art
Ludmilla V
“We needed to find someone on who WASN’T using AI to generate illustrations. We found Ludmilla, and she’s been part of the team since my relaunch. She’s been easy to work with, even while getting briefs from CJ, and from me, separately.”
